Git R Done: Week 4

Friday, April 13, 2012

Well, this week I don't have much to report. It isn't because I didn't do things, it is more that I didn't have time to focus on something specific that I have been putting off.

We have been so intent on getting everything house-related done, that I haven't had time to focus on anything else. Things that don't need to be done immediately are thrown by the wayside. Meaning, there is no time for crafting, organizing that rouge closet, or painting that area that I keep putting off. Basically,  if it isn't on this list, then it isn't a priority right now.

So, why don't we revisit that list. I posted it on Monday, but we are already able to cross off a few things!! Here is where we are at:

Kitchen:
--Caulk/fix cabinets
--Paint cabinets and walls
--Rehang cabinet doors

Dining Room:
--Rip out carpet
--Prime and paint walls/ceiling/radiators/trim

Living Room:
--Fix up floors (i.e. remove nails and leftover carpet pieces)
--Prime and paint walls/ceiling/radiators/trim
--Remove corner radiator (We decided not to do this, in the interest of time and we want to live with it and see if we really do need three radiators in the living room.)

Bathroom:
--Install beadboard (The only thing left to do is put the cap on, but we are going to call it a done deal, because the cap can't go on until the door and window molding is put back up.)
--Finish painting tub and sink
--Install all fixtures (tub, toilet, etc) and hardware (towel bars, faucet, etc)
--Hang shelving and cabinet (This is going to have to wait. The cabinet we were planning on installing isn't going to work. So, we are putting it off until we can decide what we would like to do.)
--Install new window

Master Bedroom:
--Clean up, then paint floor
--Install new windows
--Paint and install trim
--Install hardware in closet
--Build and install bookshelf

So, as you can see a lot has been done and a lot has been pushed back until after we move in. Like I said, if it isn't a 'has-to-be-done-now' type thing, then we aren't going to waste our time.

The good thing is that the bedroom floor and kitchen cabinets are painted. This means that we can start the waiting process and let them dry the full amount of time that they need to. No moving in dishes or setting up our bedroom and hoping that things don't chip. Instead we are going to let them dry as long as possible before we bite the bullet and start the moving process. I have to say, I'm pretty anxious to start moving, so let's hope that the time flies by.

Here is our list of things to accomplish this weekend:

--mow the lawn (Seems like this wouldn't be a priority, but it needs to be done so we don't end up taking a weed-wacker to the whole thing!)
--paint the kitchen
--paint the cabinet doors
--finish painting tub and sink
--start the moving process (Basically take the already packed boxes from our apartment and put them on the porch at the new house)

I will be back with an update on Monday! What are your weekend plans? Anything that involves moving, whether it be moving things around in your house or moving to a different house? What about mowing your lawn? I know ours is growing like there is no tomorrow! Got to get on that bugger. Git r done :)
